CHAINMASTER electric chain hoists for floating stage

As part of the 4-day Ems Festival, which took place for the 20th time in the city of Rheine from 28 to 31 July 2022, a varied programme of exclusive live shows and music from various decades awaited the spectators. The focal point of the event this year was once again the floating stage directly on the banks of the Ems.

The special thing about this floating show stage is that it is used on flowing water, which is unique in all of Europe. Also special this year – the first-time use of our CHAINMASTER electric chain hoists. Our customer, perfect sound GmbH with project manager Marco Ahmann, was responsible for the set-up and dismantling as well as the operation of the show stage during the festival. 6x CHAINMASTER D8Plus Ultra 500 kg models with 25 m chain were used on the stage. In this special application, special attention was paid to the IP protection class. IP66 was deliberately chosen as it is ideal for use in the open air. “The D8Plus Ultra series from CHAINMASTER convinced us with its compact design and the fact that it can also be used in the rain without any problems. That was an important knock-out criterion for such an event,” says stage and lighting manager Marco Ahmann enthusiastically.

The entire stage is subject to elaborate construction and constant monitoring, as it has to be lowered when the water level reaches a certain level or when the flow velocity of the Ems reaches 0.5 m/s. This requires that the stage used has to be able to withstand the rain. This requires that the electric chain hoists used must be ready for use at all times to ensure safety. “Under these conditions, the first choice was clearly CHAINMASTER products,” says Marco Ahmann.

Looking back, perfect sound GmbH realised a great project here with our CHAINMASTER products and was able to give the open-air festival an unforgettable charm. “We are looking forward to further joint projects!”, says Nikos Böttcher, Sales CHAINMASTER GmbH.
